HOW MANY LIGHTSABERS DOES GENERAL GRIEVOUS HAVE?

The Separatist Droid Army's formidable cyborg commander in the Star Wars universe, General Grievous, is renowned for his ability to use several lightsabers in combat and devastatingly defeat his adversaries. Grievous can use four lightsabers with his robotic arms, letting him battle multiple enemies at the same time.

Grievous was a skilled lightsaber fighter who learned his craft from Sith Lord Count Dooku. He could spin his mechanical hands quickly. This let him use his sabers to create a dangerous energy pinwheel.

During the Clone Wars, a ruthless cyborg gained fame for attacking planets with his army. This caused fear to spread across the galaxy. General Grievous was known for hunting and killing Jedi, collecting their lightsabers. This made him a prime target for the Republic.

Grievous amassed a remarkable and symbolic collection that displays his prowess and wins over the Jedi, his sworn enemies. His lightsaber collection changes throughout the Star Wars story, primarily shown in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and The Clone Wars animated series. This raises the question of how many General Grievous lightsabers possesses.

THE COLLECTION OF A WARRIOR: A BREAKDOWN OF GRIEVOUS’S LIGHTSABER ARSENAL

General greivous collects items that represent his victories, making him more than just someone who collects lightsabers. Even though Grievous uses four lightsabers in the film Revenge of the Sith during his battle with Obi-Wan Kenobi, his collection is much more extensive, as shown by the numerous Star Wars media.

Let's examine a few of the noteworthy lightsabers that General Grievous has owned:

UR-SEMA DU

Grievous was present at the Battle of Geonosis, which served as the formal beginning of the Clone Wars. During the surface battle between the Jedi and their clone army, Grievous defended the Separatist Council by stationing himself in underground tunnels.

During the struggle, he ran upon a few Jedi, including Ur-Sema Du, who had inadvertently walked into the tunnels. The two fought a bloody duel, and the terrifying cyborg ultimately killed Du. Grievous defeated Du, the first Jedi, and her lightsaber became the first in his collection.

NEEBO

Jedi Master Neebo disappeared on a mission to guard refugees on Sanjin's moons sometime around the beginning of the war. The Confederate cyborg likely killed Neebo. Master Kit Fisto and his student Nahdar Vebb discovered her lightsaber. They found it in General Grievous' trophy room on Vassek 3.

NAHDAR VEBB

Count Dooku decided to test his powers during the early phases of the Clone Wars because he was unhappy with Grievous's recent performance. Dooku deceived Kit Fisto and Nahdar Vebb. He convinced them to go to Grievous' base on Vassek 3. Grievous was caught in the trap and had to fight the Jedi.

Grievous survived an ambush, shot Vebb with a blaster, and was injured in a fight with Master Fisto. He briefly took Vebb's lightsaber, but Fisto quickly retrieved it before escaping from Grievous' base.

EETH KOTH

Grievous captured Jedi Master Eeth Koth by ambushing his ship in the remote regions of the Outer Rim. Grievous took Koth's lightsaber, but Gallia, Skywalker, and Kenobi rescued him.

ADI GALLIA

The next time Adi Gallia faced off against the droid General was not long after she had saved Master Koth. Grievous captured the Jedi Master after surprising Gallia's flagship with a strike. His detention of Gallia (along with her lightsaber) would only last moment, for Plo Koon immediately set off on a rescue expedition following her apprehension. Grievous ran away as Master Koon and his soldiers got on Grievous's ship and freed Gallia, so she could get her lightsaber back.

PABLO-JILL

Grievous fought Jedi Knight Pablo-Jill on the planet Duro during the Clone Wars, in a city that was falling from a satellite. Grievous hurt Pablo-Jill, and as a result, he lost his lightsaber. Grievous would discover the blue lightsaber among the town's ruins and keep it in his collection.

JMMAAR

Grievous vanquished Jedi Master Jmmaar before the Battle of Utapau, taking possession of the dead Jedi's green-bladed lightsaber.

SHAAK TI & RORON COROBB

The creator of the Clone Wars, Darth Sidious, gave Grievous orders to invade Coruscant in force and seize Sheev Palpatine, the Supreme Chancellor of the Republic. The General started preparing for the attack without realizing that Palpatine was Sidious's alter ego. As Grievous and his strike force approached the planet's surface, Count Dooku launched an airstrike over the Republic capital, surprising the Coruscant defense fleet.

The Republic security forces did everything in their power to prevent Grievous from reaching Chancellor Palpatine but to no avail. The cruel General killed Jedi Master Roron Corobb, defeated Master Shaak Ti, and wiped out all the clone troopers in his path. Grievous claimed the weapons of Corobb and Ti before kidnapping the Chancellor and making his getaway.

ANAKIN SKYWALKER & OBI-WAN KENOBI

Jedi Generals Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi had a risky mission. They needed to rescue the captured Supreme Chancellor.

This happened during the Battle of Coruscant. The Jedi and Palpatine tried to flee after breaking onto Grievous' ship and liberating the Chancellor, but they were apprehended shortly after. Grievous briefly got Skywalker and Kenobi's lightsabers, but the Jedi escaped and took their weapons back.

SIFO-DYAS

Grievous's first lightsaber in Legends is the former Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas' weapon. Count Dooku gave him this lightsaber; Dooku had taken it after killing and betraying Sifo-Dyas.

DAAKMAN BARREK, SHA’A GI, TARR SEIRR, KI-ADI-MUNDI, & K’KRUHK

Four months after the Battle of Geonosis, in Legends, Grievous is made known to the Jedi Order and the Republic during the Battle of Hypori and grievously defeated Jedi Master Daakman Barrek during this battle. At the same time, his army of droids encircled and imprisoned six other Jedi inside the wreckage of a transport ship. Grievous commanded his troops to disband to engage in a direct fight with the Jedi.

Padawan Sha'a Gi was promptly slain by the General, who then proceeded to fight the other Jedi. He overcame Tarr Seirr in the duel and seriously hurt K'Kruhk and Aayla Secura. He overcame Ki-Adi-Mundi and Shaak Ti in brutal combat, taking control of the Jedi Masters and robbing Mundi of his lightsaber.

Republic forces arrived to save the Jedi just in time to stop Grievous from taking down the unarmed Mundi. Grievous took up the fallen K'Kruhk's lightsaber as Mundi, and the clone soldiers made their way away with the wounded Jedi (and presumably gathered the sabers of the other Jedi he slain).

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF GRIEVOUS’ LIGHTSABER COLLECTION

General Grievous' lightsabers are not just trophies; they show his skill as a fighter and intimidate his enemies. Grievous is a Jedi hunter who uses different lightsabers. He represents the difficult times of the Clone Wars. This was a dark period for the Jedi Order before their downfall.

Let's examine Grievous's lightsaber collection's more profound meaning:

SYMBOLS OF FALLEN HEROES

Grievous's possession of every lightsaber signifies the downfall of a Jedi hero. Grievous uses weapons that were once used by Jedi to protect the galaxy. This shows that the Jedi are unable to defend the Republic and themselves. Every hilt reflects the unique path of its original owner and their ultimate defeat, telling a tale of loss and the human tragedies of battle.

INSTRUMENTS OF POWER AND INTIMIDATION

For Grievous, these lightsabers serve as tools of intimidation and authority and are trophy items. Grievous, brandishing several Jedi lightsabers personifies terror for many people in the Star Wars galaxy.

He shows his fighting skills and uses Jedi symbols to weaken his enemies mentally. This also shows the power balance changing in the galaxy.

THE DUALITY OF TECHNOLOGY AND TRADITION

Grievous is a cyborg whose entire existence blurs the natural and artificial distinction. He is a hybrid of technology and organic life. This contrast is reflected in the use of lightsabers, the classic Jedi weaponry, by an evil artificial entity. It emphasizes two themes throughout the Star Wars saga: the loss of individuality and the corruption of the natural order.

A LEGACY OF CONFLICT

The collection also acts as a material reminder of the strife, betrayal, and deception of people and ideas that characterized the Clone Wars. Grievous's lightsaber collection represents a new stage in this difficult time. It shows the personal struggles between the Jedi and their enemies. It also highlights the price of war.

REFLECTIONS ON THE JEDI AND THEIR IDEALS

Finally, Grievous's collection unintentionally turns into a mirror that reflects the successes and shortcomings of the Jedi Order. In Grievous's hands, the lightsabers—once emblems of a noble path—highlight the weaknesses and moral ambiguities the Jedi must contend with in their struggle against evil.

This prompts discussion on the nature of good and evil in the Star Wars world and challenges the viewer's impression of the Jedi.

HOW MANY LIGHTSABERS DID GENERAL GRIEVOUS HAVE IN HIS COLLECTION?

We talked about the significance of these victories. We highlighted some of the noteworthy Jedi lightsabers that General Grievous could claim, but the question of how many lightsabers General Grievous acquired still stands.

During the Clone Wars, Grievous instilled fear and caused harm to numerous individuals throughout the galaxy. He targeted witches, clone troops, and innocent bystanders. His actions affected many people in different ways.

But Grievous's primary target and the ones he wished to cause the most significant suffering were the Jedi. Even though it's almost hard to calculate the precise number of Jedi he vanquished and lightsabers he took, there is enough data to estimate.

Grievous gathered more than simply lightsabers, to begin with. Before becoming a cybernetic entity, he had spent years gathering different trophies. However, Grievous also enjoyed gathering various souvenirs related to the Jedi, particularly the braids of Padawan trainees.

Grievous is said to have killed many Jedi Knights and Masters during the war. His hideout reportedly had nearly a hundred Padawan braids.

General Grievous probably gathered hundreds of lightsabers. He took them from the many Jedi that his droid army defeated. This happened while he was part of the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
