Who Wields The Dark-saber?
Bo-Katan Kryze is the last owner of the Dark-saber in the current canon because it appears to have been destroyed. She had to go through a lengthy and intricate process to obtain this fabled saber, which has been the focus of three seasons of the Disney+ series Star Wars: The Mandalorian and beloved animated shows, including Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. The Dark-saber was owned by a number of well-known figures in the Star Wars universe, including both heroes and villains before it ended up in Bo-Katan's hands. The most renowned and/or notorious Dark-saber owners are examined in our list below.
What Is The Dark-saber, And Why Is It Important?
Before delving far into the realm of official lore, Star Wars fans typically seek clarification on the meaning of lightsaber colors. The answer is frequently straightforward: red is associated with the Sith, but blue is always associated with the Jedi. However, some other lightsaber hues are more challenging to describe. This is the case with black, which is only found in the legendary Dark-saber among known lightsaber blades. This particular lightsaber is typically owned by the planet's king (Mand'alor) and is strongly associated with the royal clan of Mandalore. This is the reason it is frequently called the Mandalorian Dark-saber, a representation of strength, solidarity, and leadership among Mandalorian soldiers. Notable Dark-saber Wielders
Only those who are very significant in Star Wars canon are included below; not all Dark-saber wielders are included. You'll discover how the Dark-saber has been utilized as a tool for power throughout the galaxy, from heroes to villains.
1. Tarre Vizsla
The Dark-saber was made by Tarre Vizsla, a Mandalorian who was the original owner and developer of the weapon. He trained at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Since Vizsla's exceptional Force sensitivity was thought to make him a good candidate for the Jedi, he was actually the first Mandalorian ever to join the Order. Later on, Vizsla became the Mand'alor of his native planet, and his Dark-saber became so closely linked to his rule that his successors frequently went to considerable measures to take it for themselves in order to justify their authority. Pre Vizsla, a member of House Vizsla and another Dark-saber wielder, descended from Tarre.
2. Pre Vizsla
Pre Vizsla, a member of House Vizsla, utilized the Dark-saber as the head of the terrorist organization Death Watch in his eventually successful attempt to overthrow the pacifistic New Mandalorian government and take control of Mandalore. Pre-Vizsla was killed shortly afterward in a confrontation with Darth Maul, his erstwhile comrade.
3. Darth Maul
According to Mandalorian custom, Darth Maul acquired the Dark-saber after murdering Pre Vizsla, the previous owner. He asserted his authority as the head of Death Watch and the ruler of Mandalore by using the Dark-saber. Maul used his Dark-saber in numerous fights and skirmishes, such as the second battle of Dathomir and conflicts with General Grievous and Darth Sidious.
4. Sabine Wren
Sabine Wren, a Mandalorian who took part in the uprising against the Galactic Empire, took the Dark-saber from Darth Maul's storage facility at the Night-sister's lair on the planet Dathomir. She only grudgingly consented to let Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger teach her how to use the lightsaber properly so she could better support the rebel cause after quickly realizing the importance of the weapon she had seized. After a protracted search, Wren discovered Bo-Katan Kryze, who was deserving of taking on the lightsaber and all of its obligations since she did not think that simply owning the Dark-saber gave her the authority to govern the planet.
5. Bo-Katan Kryze
During the civil war, Kryze, the sister of Satine Kryze (Duchess of Mandalore), served as a commanding general in the Mandalorian resistance. She rallied Clan Wren and other Mandalorian groups behind her by accepting the Dark-saber from Sabine. Bo-Katan reluctantly gave the Dark-saber to Moff Gideon during the Great Purge on Mandalore in the hopes that it would prevent Mandalore from being destroyed. Kryze was forced to leave Mandalore after her plan failed, promising to return and get the fabled saber. After a while, Bo-Katan Kryze regained possession of the Mandalorian Dark-saber with Djin Djarin's assistance. He used it to fight Moff Gideon before the Imperial remnant destroyed it.
6. Moff Gideon
Moff Gideon used the Dark-saber for years in order to maintain his position as the head of the Imperial remnant following the collapse of the Galactic Empire. Djin Djarin fought Gideon during The Mandalorian's events, defeating the villain with the Dark-saber.
7. Djin Djarin
Reluctantly, Djarin took the fabled Dark-saber with him on his exploits after he had won it from Moff Gideon. Djarin was challenged by Paz Vizlsa, another descendant of Tarre Vizsla, wherein he bested Paz in combat. Bo-Katan saved Djarin multiple times, and although she was reluctant to retake the Dark-saber, Djarin persuaded her and the other Mandalorian's that he was merely giving the saber back to its rightful owner.
