Yellow Lightsaber Meaning and Users
Not as frequently explored as other hues, yellow lightsabers are a relatively recent addition to Star Wars history. What does a yellow lightsaber imply, and who uses them often in Star Wars? Fans may have diverse interpretations of their meaning based on their appearances in Star Wars media, particularly in "The Rise of Skywalker." These subjects will be thoroughly examined in this paper.
What Does a Yellow Lightsaber Mean?
The yellow lightsaber symbolizes knowledge and wisdom, equilibrium, alertness, a focus on others' safety, personal development, and self-discovery.
- Knowledge and Wisdom: The yellow lightsaber represents enlightenment and wisdom. Because of their dedication to the Jedi Order and its principles, Jedi who brandish yellow lightsabers are regarded as guardians of knowledge.
- Balance: Yellow lightsabers represent the light and dark sides of the Force. Characters who represent this dualism frequently wield them, indicating a sophisticated moral philosophy. Rey, whose yellow lightsaber represents her role in creating a new Jedi Order centered on harmony and balance, is a prime example.
- Vigilance: The Jedi Temple Guards in " The Clone Wars" are armed with yellow lightsabers and are constantly on guard to safeguard the Jedi Temple. They must keep an eye on the temple and ensure that it is safe from any attacks, and their unwavering attention to detail demonstrates their commitment to security.
- Emphasis on Protecting Others: In "The Clone Wars," Ahsoka Tano is depicted brandishing yellow-green lightsabers. As evidenced by her assistance in rescuing the Mandalore people from Darth Maul, she constantly seeks to defend others. She demonstrates her great sense of duty by fighting to protect the innocent even after quitting the Jedi Order.
- Personal Development and Self-Discovery: Pursuing a yellow Kyber crystal requires self-reflection and personal development, similar to a Jedi's pursuit of self-awareness. This feature highlights that using a yellow lightsaber involves more than just fighting skills; it also entails knowing one's position in the more excellent cosmic Order.
The Jedi Sentinels' use of yellow lightsabers is one instance that incorporates all of these connotations. They are constantly alert for risks and strive to defend the galaxy from threats by striking a balance between their fighting prowess and practical knowledge, such as being proficient in technology and acting as skilled investigators. In their jobs, Jedi Sentinels blend vigilance, balance, and a focus on protecting others.

They emphasized practical talents like security, computers, stealth, demolition, repairs, and medicine, but they also had strong combat abilities and extensive knowledge of the Force.
Sentinels would frequently employ tools or cunning techniques to solve issues rather than relying solely on combat or the Force. For instance, a Sentinel might pick the lock on a closed door rather than using the Force to unlock it like a Consular or break it down like a Jedi Guardian.
In the book The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force," Sentinel Jedi recruiter Morrit Ch'gally initially explained the branch's function, which has remained broadly consistent throughout Jedi history.

Temple Guards were Jedi Knights chosen to become anonymous sentinels as part of their lifelong dedication to the Order. Guardsmen wore masks and formal gowns and were supposed to be emotionally cold. They carried lightsaber pikes, which are double-bladed lightsabers with yellow blades and operated under Jedi Master Cin Drallig, the security chief.
Jedi Temple Guard's Yellow Lightsaber: The lightsaber Pike
The Jedi Temple Guard lightsaber, also known as the lightsaber pike, was a thick and potent lightsaber variant that resembled a double-bladed lightsaber. It had two yellow blades at each end and was shaped like a staff. Some lightsaber pikes were hinged, and others had a handle that, when pressed, extended a short blade, making the weapon two to three meters long. As we will see later, Luke Skywalker's single-bladed version was altered to have a standard handle due to damage.
3. Luke Skywalker
Who is Luke Skywalker?
Born in 19 BBY, Luke Skywalker was a male human with Force sensitivity who shared a twin sister, Leia. He is the son of Senator Padmé Amidala and Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker. When the Galactic Empire ruled, Luke became a Jedi Master and was a key player in the Galactic Civil War.
The Alliance to Restore the Republic, which Luke fought for with his companions Princess Leia Organa and General Han Solo, sought to overthrow the Empire and restore democracy. After the conflict, Luke rose to fame as one of the best Jedi ever.
During the Galactic Civil War, Luke Skywalker wielded at least three distinct lightsabers. The first was the blue lightsaber that Obi-Wan Kenobi had previously given him from his father. After using it for three years, Luke lost it and his hand in a battle with Darth Vader on Bespin.
After visiting a Jedi station on Tempes, he acquired his second lightsaber. He fixed a yellow lightsaber pike that had been damaged and used it to battle adversaries like Commander Ellian Zahra.
At last, Luke constructed a new green-bladed lightsaber. In his final battle with Darth Vader, he used this one to save his friends from Jabba the Hutt.
Luke Skywalker's Yellow Lightsaber
On Tempes, the Jedi Order established an outpost during the High Republic Era. Later, it was abandoned, leaving behind a number of Jedi artifacts, such as a shattered lightsaber pike on a pedestal and Jedi Temple Guard gear. Luke Skywalker lost his father's lightsaber in a confrontation with Darth Vader on Bespin following the Battle of Hoth in 3 ABY. Skywalker went to the outpost on Tempes to get a new lightsaber after receiving instructions from the partially trained Padawan Verla.
Upon entering the deserted outpost, Luke Skywalker spotted the lightsaber and grabbed it. When the Grand Inquisitor's soul suddenly struck, Skywalker used the yellow lightsaber to defend himself. Despite the Inquisitor's initial advantage, Skywalker was able to sever his hand and hit him in the chest. Later, aboard an EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate, Skywalker returned to the Alliance Fleet's Fourth Division and demonstrated his new lightsaber to his fellow soldiers.
Luke's right arm was injured when a sentry droid crushed them both, and his yellow lightsaber was damaged during a battle with Killdroids. After repairing his arm, Skywalker went in search of a fresh kyber crystal. He explained to R2-D2 in an old Jedi book regarding kyber crystals that the lightsaber's instability, poor performance, and occasional cuts were caused by the crystal cracking during the battle. Skywalker constructed a new green lightsaber and began using it in 4 ABY.

She rejects her dark ancestry and creates her own identity as a Jedi, even after learning that she is Emperor Palpatine's granddaughter. During the battle against the First Order, Rey fashioned her lightsaber.
Rey Skywalker's Yellow Lightsaber
Rey used pieces of her previous staff to make her lightsaber, and she covered it with cloth for grip. Because of its sturdy armor, the handle was just as large and durable as the staff. Its sword glowed yellow due to a cyber gem inside. She turned a gear-like component to activate it, opening the emitter and releasing the blade.
In her chamber at the base on Ajan Kloss, Rey began crafting her lightsaber during the conflict between the First Order and the Resistance. After witnessing a gloomy image of herself in the remains of the second Death Star, she decided against creating a hinged design. Finn, her buddy and fellow Resistance member, stopped the robot D-O from tampering with the lightsaber as he was searching through her workshop prior to the Battle of Exegol.
Following the war's conclusion at the Battle of Exegol, Rey travelled to Tatooine. She finished her single-bladed lightsaber and buried the lightsabers of Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa at the old Skywalker home. As the ghosts of Luke and Leia watched, Rey answered an elderly woman's question about her identity by identifying herself as "Rey Skywalker." To pay tribute to the Skywalker family, she crafted a yellow lightsaber.

The Jedi Sentinel, who strikes a balance between knowledge and expertise, is comparable to this. As a former scavenger, Rey shares the Sentinels' willingness to labor hard.

Ahsoka Tano's Yellow Lightsaber
Ahsoka used an unconventional reverse grip to wield the first pair of lightsabers during the Clone Wars. The photo was a less complex primary lightsaber, whereas the main lightsaber featured a silver grip with black decorations. As shown during the Battle of Mon Cala, both lightsabers were able to operate underwater thanks to the utilization of cyber crystals from Ilum. The lightsabers were given back to Ahsoka by Anakin Skywalker prior to the Siege of Mandalore, but with modifications—the blades were now blue.
After assisting in the rescue of Chi Eekway Papanoida from the Separatists, Ahsoka constructed the shoto lightsaber, which has a yellow-green blade. She eventually changed her identity to become a bounty hunter, restoring her status as neither a Jedi nor a Sith.
As her loyalties changed, so did Asajj Ventress's lightsabers. The green lightsaber was what she used as a Padawan. She later served the Sith Lord Count Dooku, using two red lightsabers with curved handles that resembled Dooku's weaponry. The ignition switch, situated immediately above the grip, covered the hilt up to the blade emitter. The ignition switch was located just above the grip, covering the hilt all the way up to the blade emitter.
The lightsaber's design was intriguing. To protect the power cell, the bottom portion included a conventional ridged grip. Perforated metal made up around three-fifths of the hilt, revealing the blade's internal mechanisms. The weapon was nonetheless shielded against moisture damage by the design. The lightsaber's illuminating core gave the impression that it was both vulnerable and safe, making it an effective weapon. Ventress's intricate and robust character was reflected in this design.
The lightsaber that Ventress used while serving Count Dooku was stolen by Padawan Barriss Offee, so she obtained this one from the illegal market. Kyle Katarn's Yellow Lightsaber (Yun's Lightsaber)
The Dark Jedi Yun crafted this yellow lightsaber. It had a modified pistol grip with an index finger support made to fit the contours of a human hand. The flexible polymer used to make the grip conformed to the user's hand, producing a firm and incredibly personalized grasp.
